| Summary: |
Jerai Formation is located at the Western Belt of Peninsular Malaysia. The dominant rock type found in the study area is low grade metamorphic rock and followed by igneous rock. Quartzite is the widely observed metamorphic rocks that are formed due to the metamorphism of sandstone. Metamorphism in this area of study is believed to be initiated by contact metamorphism due to the granite plutonic intrusion under the crust. The igneous rock which is the granite are believed originated from Gunung Jerai can be interpreted to underlie the whole of Jerai Formation. Whereas pegmatite, which are the very coarse-grained, exists as intrusion or dikes associated with granitic plutons. The pegmatite formed when there is remaining magmatic fluid on the last stage of crystallization. |
