Oil spills are serious environmental disasters, often leading to significant, long-term impacts on the environment, ecology and socio-economic activities of an area. Malaysia has more than 4670 km coastal borders with valuable mangrove swamps, shrimp prawns, birds’ breed and nesting areas, turtles egg laying as well as recreation and tourist resorts have formed Malaysia as a big and important of coastal natural resources. Besides, heavy volume of shipping across the Straits of Malacca and the South China Sea also a main contribution to this pollution. All these effects of oil spills encouraged to create a computational study on effect of seawater physical properties towards oil spill specifically on crude oil. The most practical method being applied as mitigation measures around Malaysian’s coast are trajectory, sub-sea control, aerial surveillance, mechanical system and dispersant. There are several numerical methods can be encountered to conduct the study of solute transport in water which includes Finite Difference Method (FDM). Secondly is Finite Element Method (FEM) has become a frequently used computational technique in modern industry. |
